Planners Run Wall Street Journal Ad
Did you see the big Financial Planning Association ad in the September 10 Wall Street Journal? The ad asked readers to help the FPA by submitting comment letters to the SEC opposing the fee-based brokerage rule.
"Financial planning is not incidental to achieving your life goals and dreams," says the ad. "These days it is difficult to tell who is a broker and who is a financial planner, because most brokers call themselves financial consultants, giving investors a false sense of security that they are working solely in their clients’ interest."
The ad concludes: "Encourage the SEC to do the right thing. Withdraw the rule."
The recently re-opened comment period on the fee-based brokerage rule ends September 22.
