More Conferences to Consider

Here are two additional conferences to consider squeezing into your schedule:

The SEC Speaks in 2005

Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC

March 4 Ė 5

Affectionately known as "SEC Squeaks," this conference feels like itís been around almost as long as the SEC. Squeaks is a huge monster of a event, with many of the thousand or so attendees stemming from the corporate finance world.

Donít expect to be wined and dined: youíll be fending for yourself in the food court. And be warned: March 5 is a Saturday. Overall, however, itís a good, low-cost opportunity for advisers to hear directly from plenty of officials from the SECís Divisions of Investment Management, Market Regulation, Enforcement, and OCIE.

Cost is $895.

The Investment Management Institute 2005: Meeting the Challenge of a New Regulatory Regime

PLI New York Center, New York City

April 21 Ė 22

This conference, featuring a number of senior members of the í40 Act bar, is a good choice for fund lawyers. The conference is co-sponsored by none other than SEC Division of Investment Management director Paul Roye (the other co-chair is Shearman & Sterling partner Joel Goldberg). SEC Commissioner Harvey Goldschmid will deliver the keynote address: "The Investment Management Industry ó Reflections of an SEC Commissioner."

Cost is $1,495.
