SEC Names New Salt Lake City Regional Office Director
Richard Best was named regional director of the SEC’s Salt Lake City office by the agency on June 8.
Best, who will be joining the Commission after serving with FINRA as a senior director and chief counsel in its Department of Enforcement, will succeed Karen Martinez in his new position. Martinez is retiring from public service and leaving the agency at the end of June, the SEC said.
At FINRA, Best supervised a team handling investigations and disciplinary hearings involving regulated entities and associated persons.
Prior to joining FINRA, Best spent 10 years as a prosecutor in the Bronx district attorney’s office. He is a graduate of the State University of New York, College at Westbury, and has a law degree from the Howard University School of Law.
